Why do I need X-rays to create a beautiful Smile?

X-rays are important to see decay and hidden bone and gum problems. Today most Toronto Cosmetic dentists use digital technology in order to reduce radiation exposure and to simplify the transport of images to other dentists who may be involved in your treatment. X-rays are usually grouped into two formats, a Panorex, which is a large format x-ray of the entire jaw and is a perfect global view. A Panorex shows the dentist all the teeth in the upper and lower jaws, the sinuses and the temporomandibular joints. If needed the smaller size x-rays are perfect to see detail in 2–3 teeth. Many times there are problems with teeth which patients are not aware of, but if left untreated would result in a less than ideal smile result.

It is important to build your smile on a strong foundation and x-rays provide a revealing picture of your teeth and surrounding structures. They are an essential part of a completed dental exam!
